What We Believe and Our Values!
1
Justice in education means every student will receive a quality education which prepares them for their best future. It also means creating civic leaders and active participants in our communities and our democracy.
2
That the most important place to put resources is in schools, classrooms, and other places where learning occurs.
3
That zip code continues to dictate educational futures; this is why we must work to create transformative Community Schools.
4
The ongoing deficit in equitable justice and funding in our school system has created major problems requiring big imaginative solutions. Any solution short of equity is unjust.
5
That community leadership is necessary for educational equity; educators and community members have a shared passion for a world class public education in our county and this is why we must work together within the collective bargaining process and beyond.
6
A just education system contributes to thriving communities demonstrated through more equitable outcomes.
7
That education justice does not exist within a vacuum: it is part of a larger project of dismantling systems of oppression, including racism, white supremacy, and classism. We must work to undo other societal structures that prevent the success of people in our communities.
8
Teachers and school-based staff are the backbone of our education system. In order to provide a world class education for all children, BCPS must properly invest in and support those teachers and staff.
